Numerology is one of the oldest metaphysical sciences — a system that holds that numbers carry intrinsic vibrations, and that the numbers encoded in a person's birth date and given name reveal the structure of their life, character, and destiny. Notice that in the Chaldean system, the number 9 is never directly assigned to any letter, as it was considered too sacred for ordinary use. However, 9 can and does appear as a result of adding letter values.

The Reduction Rule: In numerology, multi-digit sums are reduced to a single digit by adding their individual digits together — repeatedly if needed — until a single digit remains. Unlike the Life Path which describes the full arc of your life, the Birth Day Number describes a specific, readily accessible natural ability. The Expression Number — also called the Destiny Number — is derived from your full birth name (first, middle, and last) exactly as it appears on your birth certificate. Important note on name changes: Classical numerology uses the birth name because it encodes the vibration present at the moment of entry into this life.
