What is Ram Navami?

Ram Navami falls on Chaitra Shukla Navami and marks the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the most important festivals in Vaishnavism and is celebrated across India with processions, bhajans, and recitation of the Ramayana.

What is Maha Navami?

Maha Navami is the ninth day of Navratri and is dedicated to Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga. It is observed with elaborate pujas, havan, and kanya puja โ€” a ritual of honouring young girls as manifestations of the goddess.

How is Navami observed?

Devotees observe a fast, visit temples, and offer prayers to the presiding deity of that Navami. On Ram Navami, special pujas and readings of the Ramayana are performed at noon โ€” the time of Lord Rama's birth. On Maha Navami, Durga puja and havan are the main observances.
