What is Pratipada?
Pratipada is the 1st lunar day (tithi) in the Hindu calendar, marking the start of each fortnight. It occurs twice every month โ once after Amavasya (Shukla Pratipada) and once after Purnima (Krishna Pratipada).
What is Gudi Padwa?
Gudi Padwa falls on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada and marks the Hindu New Year in Maharashtra, Goa, and parts of Karnataka. It is celebrated by erecting a Gudi (decorated pole) outside homes as a symbol of victory and prosperity. The same day is celebrated as Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
